A Massachusetts ban on assault-style weapons from 2016 was upheld in a federal appeals court on Friday.

In July 2016, in the wake of mass shootings in Orlando, Florida and San Bernardino, California, state Attorney General Maura Healey issued a notice to gun manufacturers that "copycat" assault weapons — those with only minor design changes — would be prohibited.

So, under this unilateral decision by a non-legislative body, my Troy PAR, which visually resembles an AR, would be banned, despite being a pump-action rifle and not a semi-auto at all. Well, guess I won't be driving through MA en-route to visit my brother in NH. Gotta take the scenic route now.

Investigators say they did not find any firearms in the home but the autopsy results with the cause of deaths were not available Monday from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

District Attorney Andrea Harrington said on Monday that Justine Wilbur, 41, was found dead on the first floor with signs of "a traumatic injury" that appears to have occurred prior to the start of the fire. Authorities also say they found an accelerant throughout the home, including two 20-pound propane tanks on the upper floors, used to start the blaze.
