I did say that as well but once pulled over and they determined he wasn’t drunk they should have said good bye.No. They had no valid reason to pull him over in the first place.
I get them pulling you over in a sense but what cause did they have? None so they can’t legally do that because turning around means nothing and isn’t a crime. they do as they please these days with people like us while turning a blind eye to true criminals. They wonder why we don’t support them anymore.
I get they thought you were drunk and avoiding the checkpoint but when they discovered you weren’t drunk it should have been have a nice night sir. None of that happened hence why I don’t like or trust cops anymore. I used to have good interactions with them because I knew them all but now that the ones I knew are retiring the good interactions have retired with them. I’ve had some bad interactions with some cops over the last 10 years unless I personally know them. It’s sad it really is.
I hope you drove back through and offered them some potato salad for their efforts.Trooper #1 got more and more of an attitude as the stop went on. I don't think that he was very happy once he started to realize that I was probably fucking with him by turning around. I mean, I did have an actual reason to turn around and go back home, but I wasn't going to until I saw the checkpoint. Then I set the trap. Meh, I can be a dick sometimes.
I told the Trooper I forgot the potato salad at home, and I figured this is as good of a place as any to turn around and go back and get it. lol
Sometimes you just have the urge to poke the bear a little bit. And when I say “bear” here, I am not referring to cops specifically. More like just poking assholes in general who deserve it. It can be a bit satisfying.Trooper #1 got more and more of an attitude as the stop went on. a lot of you are missing a few points here:Refusing a breathlyzer test, is an automatic DWI....Lawyer and court costs are about 10k.
Cops can smell booze when you open the window.
Refusing to exit the vehicle, is a bad plan. You will exit.
The right to travel on foot or horseback is not questioned, unless intoxicated, and that is regulated too, but the right to operate a motor vehicle, on a public highway is clearly not in the bundle of human rights.
Either your BIL isn't telling you the whole story, or he found the worst lawyer ever. My money is on the former.second, ( I have no idea if this is still going on* ) police can charge you with DWI even without a breathalyzer. If they THINK you have been drinking, you can be charged with DWI. I KNOW, because this happened to my BIL in AZ. He was about a mile from home, a cop pulled him over and did the usual 'pleasantries' and then said, "you have been drinking haven't you, step out of the car, put your hands behind your back ( hand cuffed ~~~car towed ) and he ended up paying around 8 G's, had a interlock put on his car AND a ankle monitor put on him for 6 months---all at his expense. He had not been drinking for a few weeks, but got nailed by this horse shit anyway.
