• INT 518A-2022, Requires the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice to coordinate with the New York City Police Department to conduct a study and issue an annual report to the Mayor and City Council Speaker on the trafficking of illegal firearms into New York City.
• INT 602-2022, For the purposes of state penal law definition of sensitive area for the carrying of guns, defines the area commonly known as Times Square. Also authorizes the New York City Police Department to promulgate such rules as may be necessary to implement the bill, including rules applicable, as appropriate, to persons with a firearms license who live or work in the area commonly known as Times Square.

In NYS slower municipalities can sign laws that have stricter gun control than the state and federal level. There are only a few states that allow this an NYS is one of them. I believe it’s called preemptive laws.

I’m not 100% sure in this case but preemptive laws are laws. Preemption means they can pass stricter laws than the state so I would say absolutely they can pass laws.

Monroe county made it illegal to carry a gun in some additional places
NYC says you can’t carry a gun here even if you have a CCW permit.
I’m sure the list is plenty more plentiful.

yeah .. NYS doesn't really have preemption law .. if it did then NYC wouldn't have its own gun laws vs the rest of the state .. then #2 all the counties would have the same rules on getting a CCW . not each county doing what they want ..
