This is no different than actual police brutality, this is administrative brutality; aka death by government. The local DA gets to terrorize the citizenry. He pled to something he said they actually did. So it is bad law and should be struck. He, they, are attorneys and obviously have pretty deep pockets and should be appealing the conviction, something they could do them selves in their spare time. Not gonna happen, but it should.

Or maybe, being lawyers themselves, they knew a misdemeanor plea was as good as it was going to get without tying them up in court for weeks/months, which would probably cost them a lot of money in lost work. I agree that they never should have been charged at all, but this is probably one of those deals where you can beat the rap, but you can't beat the ride.

I agree that plea deals are an abomination against justice, but I can't blame people who take them. It's like blaming someone for succumbing to torture.

End of the day they got a tiny slap on the wrist because the prosecution acknowledged implicitly that what these people do was more or less on the up and up. I still think they could have acted better and legally given themselves a stronger position, but justice was mostly served. Small slap on the wrist, and now they have guns that definitely work since they just bought them. They aren't even gun-prohibited felons now.

Even looks like the guy lost weight since last year, so maybe it's been a positive experience overall.

US justice system is good by world standards but by western not very good IMO. It's built hugely on throwing entire books of shit at people and hoping they will just plead out to avoid a court case. If I had not committed a crime but I felt there was a 50% chance of a 15 year prison sentence or I could please out and get 3 months and then two years' parole you better believe I'm pleading to the lesser charge.

The very fact they allowed the prosecutor to single them out and allow those snowflakes to walk is nothing but BS! The fact that they're lawyers complicates the situation entirely as the good ol boy network is at play without a doubt! Fighting the case is and should have been just as important as going in the house and grabbing those guns in the first place! I've said it before and I'll say it here again... If you aren't going to see things through to the highest possible conclusion, then what are you even doing? They should've just stayed in their house then... Don't pull it, if your not going to use it! And that includes defending the right to do what you did after the fact!

Have you ever been in court facing big time? I was facing 25 years once. With that one will do whatever it takes to get out of the charges. Once you go to trial the chance of a good outcome is very low. BTW - my charge was dismissed, did not need to plea - but had to spend a good amount of money to fight it.

Maybe you're misunderstanding that most cases even if they go to trial, the person who never admits wrongdoing do not get the book thrown at them like it is on TV! These fuckers, (DA) and more, would NEVER allow this case to see the jury! A precedent would shatter their world! So thinking the need for appeal is a bit presumptive, you're already convicting me and sentencing me... Lol, slow it all down. One sympathetic juror, that's it! One! Is all it takes, and in my county, there's plenty of 2A supporters, not to worry

No, I haven't, and I wouldn't regardless! And for the matter, you contradict yourself. And provide substance to back up your attestation that going to trial automatically negates a favorable outcome!? You mean all DA's have a 100% conviction rate? That those who go to trial are dealt more harsh terms?

What makes you think any sympathetic juror would ever end up on that jury ? Anyone who didn't think white people were the root of all evil would be stricken for "bias" by the prosecutor, and the judge would agree wholeheartedly.

In that jurisdiction it *is* a rigged system. The jurors would all be BLM or Antifa.


I realize a lot of people have a psychological need to "trust the system" because the alternative is unthinkable for them. They are setting themselves up for some serious disappointment.

You never would have been charged where you live, so the whole question is moot.

Most places where the charge would even have been brought will not give you a fair trial.
