That's what will and has happened. No? If red flag laws are used against you, you get a knock on the door so that you can be taken into custody and your weapons seized. If laws are passed and the government knows you have something that you didn't turn in, they will knock on your door like the NYPD did when they banned AR-15's in the 90's.

They aren't going to have you meet them in an open battlefield for a fair fight. They will knock on your door or break down your door when you are home.

I don't see how this is a dreamt up scenario. It's the only scenario ever used for gun confiscation unless you want to dream up some other scenario where you as a lone gunman say "No" and prevail fighting back and then later left alone because you won.
