Here are some teasers of the NPM until I get around to cleaning off the cosmoline and getting better photos
The stock is a little rougher than I think it should be for the grade I paid for, but it's a high wood Trimble stock. Bottom line, I'd rather have a dinged up Trimble stock than anything else. Barrel band is early type 1. Push safety instead of flip. Stamped sight instead of the flip sight. Flat bolt.
Receiver has a 'U' stamp which I believe means the receiver was made by Union Switch & Signal and then sent to National Postal Meter for assembly.
Pretty cool how these are coming out from MW. Haven't read up on these so forgive my ignorance..Where the original parts replaced at a small unit level? With that rear sight, you'd think the armorer would have given it the full parts upgrade. My CMP Winchester from the first run they did, was a Mish mosh of early and late parts. (Although at a glance yours has some great early parts, and I'm hoping that stocks original to the gun, as Trimble was NPM's wood source.) Does your stock have the NPM over FJA cartouche on the side? Super cool that its a high wood with a type 1 barrel band. Let us know about the internals. Goes to show, with USGI firearms, never say never. Nice pick up.
