IMHO, this is one of the most brilliant historical syntheses I've ever read. Codevilla follows the "righteous mob mentality" through hundreds of years of history...including Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia and our present precarious situation.

Truly a tour de force...can't recommend it enough...
