Original Mini-14's up to I don't know what serial number could and were modified by many civilians to shoot full auto. Once Ruger got wind of that, they changed the trigger group.

shhhhhhh ... there is a pdf that shows how to make it auto .. but its always auto if you do it ..

Considering the accuracy issues I think I would still stick to semi-auto. That's not a slight against the Mini-14. I have one and enjoy it a lot but it's not nearly as accurate as many of the other rifles I have.
