Pinning a flash hider to the barrel doesn't make it not a flash hider. It's still a banned feature unless the gun doesn't have a detachable magazine. Which would make pinning it pointless. But what will hold up in court for a fixed mag on a rife that wasn't originally designed for it, no one knows.

A "faux flash hider" is essentially just an extended thread protector that is machined to look like a flash hider. None of the gas ports are actually open.

A fixed magazine eliminates the possibility of an NY AW altogether, so you can have as many banned "features" as you'd like.
