.38 Special
I've been thinking about dipping my toes in the mini shell market and bringing in 200,000 rounds on our next shipment. What do you guys think of the minis? Would it be worth it?
To this point I have a box and I tried them in my mossberg 600 and they do not cycle at all. I didn’t know you needed to modify the gun when I bought them and they aren’t cheap.i would suggest that you also include the sale of the mods you may need to the shotgun too so they cycle in the gun ..
Ok that is great to know, thanks. To this point I have a box and I tried them in my mossberg 600 and they do not cycle at all. I didn’t know you needed to modify the gun when I bought them and they aren’t cheap.
I would say most people do not know this and if you do not convey that information to them you may have some pissed off customer especially at the price point.
Working with my suppliers to make this happen soonishI wish they were available in 20 gauge, would be great to use in multi-gun matches.
Reload them, isn't hard to do and you could always use the old Lee wack a mole type loader. Could also get some .303 Brit brass and cut it and blow it out and POOF you have all brass .410 shot shells! They're a non-standard round in a very standardized gauge.
There is a niche market for them, if there weren't, Aguila would have discontinued them long ago.
They work great in Single shots and Double Barrels, reasonably well in modified Pump actions, and I've no experience with using them in semi-auto's and have no expectations of them working at all.
If you want to import something, bring in .410's...I find it goddamn hard to swallow $30.+ a box for a shell that has half the material as a 12 gauge.
Sports South list 91 different item numbers for .410 and the only thing anyone's getting is their salespersons allocations of Estate #8 one flat at a time.
could, have, but too lazy nowReload them, isn't hard to do and you could always use the old Lee wack a mole type loader. Could also get some .303 Brit brass and cut it and blow it out and POOF you have all brass .410 shot shells!
If you get some 20 gauge buckshot and it could work with my semi auto I’d buy a few.Working with my suppliers to make this happen soonish
I wish I had some. What is the use for them?Any chance of 2 1/2" 12 ga shells? I know Kent and RST make some but hard as hell to find.
Trying to get some .410 and 28 gauge in. Hopefully sometime around April/MayThey're a non-standard round in a very standardized gauge.

Extremely small market. In my case, for use in fluid steel barrel for a Winchester 1887.I wish I had some. What is the use for them?
Fluid steel in good condition (including lock up) should be just fine.Extremely small market. In my case, for use in fluid steel barrel for a Winchester 1887.
The originals have a 2 9/16" chamber. no go for "normal" sized shells. And it has to be shot. Its a gunFluid steel in good condition (including lock up) should be just fine.
Old Guns often were stamped with the metal they were made from "Nickle Steel" "Fluid Steel" and others I just can't think of right now.
It's been cautioned for a hundred years not to use modern smokeless loads in twist or Damascus steel barrels for the same reason they tell you NOT to use Smokeless Powder in Muzzleloaders; that said, a shotgun in good condition that was made for Blackpowder loads will tolerate low brass shells (Trap & Skeet, Dove & Quail, low recoil, etc.) problems arose when guys would load Slugs, Buch shot, Heavy Duck, etc. as the pressures and curve generated by smokeless propellant exceeded that of Black Powder.
I AM NOT suggesting that you pull that old wall hanger off and start shooting it, but I will say it might not be as weak and sensitive as you fear.
They are being produced rn, will have them in April/May. Going to be all slugs for this batch.Any updates on 12g mini shells?
Cool. Keep me posted! They are being produced rn, will have them in April/May. Going to be all slugs for this batch.
Funny story there. I bought mine second hand for a really great price. Got it home, and you had to SLAM THE SHIT out of it to get it to cycle. I mean bad. So I took a closer look - it has the aftermarket hand guard on it, and it was mounted one slot too far back and was interfering with the action. I adjusted it and have never had an issue since. Called the shop and they laughed their asses off. Said the guy who traded it in put it on himself and raged at what a POS the gun was and took dimes on the dollar to trade it in. They also apologized profusely and gave me $100 store credit for ammo because I bought it less than 24 hours after it was traded, and the gunsmith only inspected it and found nothing wrong, but didn't get a chance to test it out. When I told the guy at the counter I was looking for a KSG he said "No shit! We just got one" and grabbed it off the table because he thought it was ready for sale. That said, yes - it needs a firm hand. But The Duke always said that about women and horses too... (don't tell my wife I said that)KSG TIP:
If pumped slowly and deliberatly it FAILS.
It needs to be pumped FAST.
