I was waiting for something like this. I'm surprised it took this long.
2 things would immediately happen cops would either not get out of their cars or Minneapolis would have no cops.
Cops with guns diffuse more situations than anyone realizes. Guns left in cars would make more criminals run because a cop would not give chase without a gun. Also it would equal more violence. What if they pull up to a domestic, walk in the residence and some one has a gun. The cop is forced to leave women and kids in the house to get his gun. Then a women and 3 kids get shot because the cops outside. I smell more deaths and lawsuits. This is the stupidest thing I heard all year.

I've got to disagree. Only one thing would happen. No cops would leave their car. Why give up a paycheck when the law says you can collect it while doing nothing? Sounds simple to me.

Most cops would love to be able to leave their equipment in the car. It is heavy, bulky and not at all comfortable. Until society stops sucking, this can not occur!
