Mobil One as Gun Oil

I use luberplate or as we called it on the flight line peanut butter. If it is good enough for Blackhawks it is good enough for my Garand.

My 700s are pretty much run dry. I see no sense in lubricaeing them the only time they get oiled is when they go in the safe and they won't be used for a while.

Can you say what spec lubriplate is "peanut butter"? They have a ton of different specs on their website. Just wondering if the same stuff is available at your local automotive store.

True. When I take my 700 out to go hunting, I just hand rub the bolt. An old timer told me that there is enough oil in the palms of your hand to coat the bolt. He also said to do the same with the old non SS pocket knife blades.

Did his gun and pocket knife have rusty fingerprints on them? Sweat and body oils are salty and acidic.

Started using Mobil 1 as one of my gun oils more than 15 years ago with no complaints. A college classmate working for Mobil first mentioned it to me maybe 30 years ago and some chemists from work claimed it worked great on their guns.

I use Mobil One the same as CLP. I clean and lubricate with it.

5w30 only because that's what each of my cars and trucks use. Really dont matter since you are using a very small film that is wiped on.

I just got a can of Royal Purple synthetic gun lube from buddy of mine. Haven't used it yet, I have been using M Pro7 lately.
