Mock Flash Hider for 14.5" Barrels

Not sure if I posted this yet but I had been emailing with the folks over at Norther Gun Parts and I asked them to make a mock flash hider that would bring a 14.5" barrel up to the legal 16" needed, so they did just that. They made these special for us at my request, pretty neat. Anyway I hope this helps until the Supreme Court decides to grow some balls.

A-2 EXT Style .223 1/2-28 TPI 2.125" L. NY Barrel Extender w/ 5 mock slots Closed-End (.375 exit).

Now according the ATF this is nothing. Not a brake, not a flash hider, just a piece of metal with a hole drilled through it. I don't see how this is any different from a thread protector really. I don't want anybody to get burnt but in your guys opinion are these FUAC legal?

Fake flash hiders are not new but I like the price of this one.

I just thought this would be a nice option for guys who wanted a 14.5" barrel. There is a pin hole between the wrench flats for pinning to the barrel.

Were fake flash hiders legal before unsafe? If so then I see no problem with them now.
