So around Christmas I got a wild hair up my butt one day and wanted to shoot 9mm out of my XD and went on a hunt for a slide assembly. I found a 9mm the only thing was it was a mod 2. I did some research and could not find much more than videos comparing the two versions. They made slight modifications to the frame but nothing so striking which would leave me to believe it wouldn’t be a bolt on swap, so I bought the mod2 slide and figured it would work.
I got it in the mail and tried to slide it on and discovered the mod 2 9mm barrel locking lugs were quite different. So I went on a hunt for the front rail block to see if it would fit in the frame. From all the pictures it looked like a drop in fit so I found a complete stripped parts frame kit (minus the frame) and bought it.
I got it in the mail, low and behold a direct drop in fit so I was in business, or so I thought. The also changed the takedown lever size. I would have to modify the plastic frame a bit to fit the longer takedown lever. No biggie I have a dremel. Now all I need is magazines.
fast forward to today got the magazines in the mail and she is done. Now I have to test fire tomorrow and I have an XD which can shoot 9and 40 by pushing out a couple of pins and swapping out the front rail block and takedown lever.
