Modify a rifle barrel

I want but can’t find a 18” target crown barrel for a AR-10 build.
Can I buy a 20” threaded barrel and have it cut down?

If yes, anyone know someone that can do it in the Rochester area?

They make accurate light barrels,,, which I assume you would be shooting for building a AR10. I Put one on my Ruger Precision in 6 creedmoor.

Pricey??? Sorry about that,,, doesnt seem that much. I build my AR's with Lilja barrels. A good barrel,, is a good barrel.

You can find them cheaper through Brownells and a couple of other places. Check BSF's website and they list places you can buy them from.

Barrel, trigger, and optics are the three items you spend as much as your budget will allow. Generally speaking, those 3 are where accuracy is make or break.

Can you order the threaded barrel and just put a cap on it to cover the threads? Or is the target crown what you're really after?

The Custom Shop can do that. I had him do a re-crown on a barrell years ago.

Where have you looked for barrels, and what is your budget ? I would think it would be easier to find one made to order.

I got hooked up with a guy in Farmington that can do the mod and even better he got me a 18” target crown barrel that will be in two weeks.
