I would probably choose my 12 gauge shotgun. Ammunition is usually readily available and relatively inexpensive. I can use it for bird hunting, deer hunting and home defense.

Okay fine...I would take my Marlin 39. It has never failed me..never jammed...never miss fired. It is a simple designed rifle. It can hold 17rds of 22, more than most semi-autos. Even if 1000 asteroids plastered Earth, there will always be 22LR accessible.
