The good news is that Judicial Remedy, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OUR LIFETIMES, is actual legitimate possibility with the SCOTUS finally having an actual majority of conservatives on it. The days of punting decisions back to the appeals courts is over, and while it won't happen overnight, I've a VERY good feeling the 2nd Amendment is no longer going to be treated like a constitutional orphan.

Yeah I hold similar hope as well. Its clear as day reviewing the plethora of conflicting lower court cases that there is clear confusion over SOME aspects of 2nd amendment-related law, primary being the right to carry outside the home and the clear unconstitutional infringement that is most may-issue permitting schemes. As an example NYS specific, cases such as Kalchalsky v Count of Westchester (or Cacase) is in direct contradiction to the rulings from other lower courts (such as Wrenn v DC).
However, this is one specific aspect of firearms ownership. I doubt they will touch features bans like that of NYS and Commiefornia. View Kavanaugh's dissent in Heller II in regard to NYS SAFE act. He speaks of semi-autos, which were not banned as per the SAFE Act. I'd personally not like to put all my eggs in the judicial basket.
And in regard to what you talk about with NYC, I find that to be the most hopeless damn aspect of this state. That city literally rules over the entirety of this state while representing a tiny percent of its landmass. Its ideals are not the ideals of Upstate. It is the damn near tyranny.

In the election year 2014, Astorino vs Cuomo, that year was the lowest voter turnout EVER for a NY governor's election. It's as much about motivation as it is about money. Cuomo corruption stories are all over even the liberal rags and yet people won't go to the polls.

I am not as optimistic as you on SCOTUS. It's very simple for one of the 5 to become a swing vote and continue status quo. I hope you are right, time will tell.

"My" former Senator Tom Libous, (Warren Anderson's hand picked deputy, in case you're old enough to actually remember when REPUBLICANS were REPUBLICAN in NYS) brokered the deal with Cuomo that lead to SAFE being passed. It doesn't see a vote WITHOUT those innocent Republicans who CONTROL the Senate allowing to have one.

No amount of finger pointing at Skelos, or dancing around the facts will change the fact that most REPUBLICANS were/are in bed with Cuomo, and remain there today.

Sorry to admit I am old enough. The Honorable Howard W Robinson introduced me to Warren while I was still in High School. NY Senator Anderson was a class act, a gentleman, and an effective politician for the Southern Tier (i.e. Route 17 improvements for Broome and Tioga Counties that would not have happened without his efforts). In the 80s Warren Anderson eventually became a family friend and a mentor to some of my family who worked for him in the Senate. In addition, Warren Anderson endorsed Libous in the primaries to elect his successor, he never endowed Libous, who was only in local Binghamton politics, with any leadership or authority. I do concede when Libous was running to fill Warrens seat, Libous was an ambitious, energetic, hard working young Republican. (BTW I met Libous when he was in high school and while his coaches / teachers did not talk ill of his school days, to this day, I relish having had the opportunity to legally and mercilessly vent some violent adolescent aggressions by kicking his fat ass during football games).

Sorry Guy, according to several people in the rooms and supported in part with a private, brief but angry discussion with a then recovering but unrepentant Libous,

1) Skelos & staff directly brokered the SAFE ACT deal with Cuomo,

2) Skelos alone agreed the "message of necessity" procedure (to eliminate the 3 day waiting period for constituents to lobby and representatives to debate) which can only be initiated by the Senate and Assembly Leaders (by Constitutional provision FUAC’s office can not do it by himself),

3) The ONLY Republicans to agree to allow the SAFE act to leave the Senate Committee were Libous and the the Left Leaning LONG ISLAND RINO Senators on the committee Skelos, Flannagan, Fushillo, LaValle, Marcelinno, and Hannon (all are Long Island left leaning RINOs who sided with all 11 Democrat Committee members).

4) It was Skelos appointee, John Conway III, the Commissioner of the Legislative Bill Drafting Commission, who provided the research, physically drafted the Senate Bill, and advised on Constitutionality,

5) Although he voted NO on the SAFE ACT, it appears that FUAC agreeing to a gubernatorial re-appointment of Libous’ wife, Frances Libous, (to her lucrative near $105,000.00 per year stint as the Chair of the Workers Compensation Board which she has served since 2001) was much of the 12 pieces of silver awarded to Libous for voting YES for the SAFE Act to leave committee.

6) The majority of all of the RINO Senators who voted YES to make the the SAFE ACT law on the Senate floor were soul selling coward left leaning RINO Long Island Senators succumbing to post Sandy Hook lobbying and media pressure led by Newsday, the NYT, and the Long Island anti-gun activist Congresswoman Carolyn Cook McCarthy with her “political action terrorists”.

It is NOT true that most elected Republicans are in bed with FUAC and in fact most elected Republicans both genuinely oppose and truly despise the loathsome FUAC, who you may be surprised to learn is more twisted and evil than is even portrayed on this forum. You are correct that there are self serving Republicans that are either vulnerable to collusion with FUAC or are in some way essentially corrupt and are just a Grand Jury waiting to happen. I would certainly agree with this statement if your jabs were at the unreliability of recent and current NY Republican Leadership (all Long Island Based) to support second amendment rights, or even that many Republicans in or near decaying deep blue Democratic urban strongholds are RINOs who are not to be trusted with our rights. Personally, I believe that corrupt New York politics needs a healthy dose of Term Limit turnover either by law or at the primary ballot box by a zealous citizenry. The SAFE ACT was not the first piece of anti-gun legislation enabled by some weak left leaning Republican urban or downstate RINOs and we're are vulnerable to more abuse in New York. There are, however, conservative elected Republican officials who will strongly battle to defend our rights but most are in Upstate NY and there are not enough of them.

I can not get excited about a politician who wished there were no guns anywhere when running for office in 2016. I am sceptical of a NYC gunless politician changing his 2A story in 2018 after grooming by previous Mass Govorner (and 2006 NY Governor Republican Primary candidate) Bill Weld advisors but he is an active campaigner and a better choice than anti 2A Cuomo, Hawkins, or Miner. FUAC got McMillian (Rent Too Damn High Party) off the ballot with a petition challenge.

Yup. Cuomo initially tried to disqualify them off the ballot with a petition challenge. FUAC also tried getting Sharpe off the ballot too challenging signatures.

It is probably sacralegiuos to some, I supported Rob Asterino, he is genuinely a great guy, but I still can not trust any pro-2A politician with my rights if they do not practice what they preach.
