Monroe Country Clerks office~~~

This afternoon I get a call from the Monroe County clerk's office. I figured it was something to do with Jury duty or some such bullshit?

Nope! they called to inform me that my plastic pistol permit was ready? At first I was surprised because I sent the application in back in JUNE!!!! and I kinda forgot about it.

The nice guy on the phone told me I needed to bring my paper permit and $12 bucks with me to get the new one. They will take a new picture, Thumb print, and electronic signature.

So I get to the County office building at 2:10pm, after spending 20 minutes looking for a parking spot.

I walk into the permit office and the sign says "Start Here for information" ....... me and another gentleman wait for 7 minutes before someone comes around and informs us to go stand in another line? WTF!!!

I wait another 15 minutes for the next available cashier, then it takes about another 15 minutes to get through the process.

and when all's said and done, I am monumentally disappointed with the new plastic cards. These stupid things are twice as thick as a credit card. So it's like adding 4 credit cards to my wallet. ya, they are pretty much indestructible. and another thing

when you add a gun to the 'card', they take the old one, shred it and print out a new one????

Ours are exactly like a NYS drivers licence, same size and thickness.

Mine is like my DL. I have 2 cards for my permit, though. Maybe 3? Fuck if I remember

Next January, NYSP will standardize them under the PP recertification process.

Yes. You have the permit card, then another card that lists the guns.



This was/is the reason I'm not in a hurry to switch to the card. I'll keep my paper permit until they make me switch.

If Cuomo had his way it would be a 4'x8' sheet of 1/4" plate steel, and he would prosecute anyone caught with a pistol who wasn't carrying it.

yes! one is personal info and the other is the list of firearms

The Wayne County plastic permits are also really thick and have two cards.

the stupid thing is, when you add or subtract a gun, they destroy the original card and print out a whole new one?

I suppose it keeps things neat and orderly, but that's got to cost more
