More PCC musings

Cause we need more gun talk.
I want a PCC. I have somewhat weird thoughts on them though. They need to be:
1- Lighter and more compact than a rifle caliber gun
2- Something that has the feel and look of a dedicated civilian carbine. With guns like the SIG MPX and CZ Scorpion I'd just be constantly reminded that I can't have the proper full auto version.
Couldn't tell y'all why I don't feel that way about ARs.
That seems like it woukd leave me with three choices, the Highpoint carbine, the Keltec Sub 2000 and and the Berretta CX4 storm.
And I'm currently liking the Storm the best.

Why, when its so much more thannthe other two? Well the HighPoint requires screws to be removed for disassembly and tools for breakdown is a major turnoff for me, and its limited to overlong single stack magazines.
The KelTec is extremely interesting with its folding feature but there is no consensus regarding its quality/reliability. One person will claim its fine and another claims its junk.
The Berretta is a high quailty gun, has access to high quality full capacity mags and its ace up the sleeve for me is its the only one that locks back on an empty magazine. I wish it were $200 cheaper though.

Buy the MPX. If you won’t buy that one, which is the best one available. Then An AR nine or the CZ.

If you go with the AR 9 mm then I was suggest getting the colt magazine Lower, as that is the only one that will lock back on an empty magazine reliably 100% of the time.

CX4 is not a piece of shit. I shot bout a hundered rounds through one once and I liked it! Though light its feels solid and durable.

Read the first and second points I made.
MPX and Scorpion just seem like bastardized versions of their proper full auto brothers and 9mm ARs are often no lighter than the 5.56 ones.

You can't fold the Keltec if you put a red dot on it. Go the AR route and build yourself a pistol with a 10.5 inch barrel.

As far as reliability, the AR wins hands down.

I'm leery of the Sub 2000 in general though.

I shoot at Blair County Game Fish and Forestry Association in Altoona PA. Google Map it for a nice sat view.
I think that is quite a trip for you but it'd be great if you wanted to come on down for a day of shooting!

I think the CX4 is 5lbs. Most of that is in the heavy bolt.

Mine is 6.5 lbs unloaded without the Thordsen configured normally. I don't know how much 6 inches of barrel would shave off.

I played a lot with the Beretta when I worked the LGS in Florida, loved it. Had a chance to occasionally handle but never shoot the KelTec. Reports of "sprongy" sound (recoil spring in the buttstock) and occasional malfunctions, usually feeding. Meh. I did end up getting a Ruger PC9 just before leaving Florida for NY, feels like a 10/22 sorta.

PC9 is a solid contender here, but no 30 rounders. And I've heard the disassembly procedure is tedious, is that true?

Miles, build it as a firearm. You know like that category where it isn't a pistol or a rifle kind of like the Mossberg Shockwave is.

Throw in that modified bolt catch from Tier 5 Solutions in for good measure if having a firearm that is neither a rifle or a pistol spooks you.

I'm considering doing the same in 5.56.

I suggest that if you are going the PCC route that you make sure the magazine is compatible with at least one of your handguns. The true value of a PCC is extending your sidearm's range.

I want to eventually get a Beretta 92. Proly is a big factor in my favoring of the CX4. MecGar makes high quality 30 rounders for it too.

I also notice the rail one one of those is not perfectly level. Kinda gives me some perspective.......

JRC, Take-down 9mm, takes Glock mags. I have a G19, Gen 4, so it made sense for me. They also offer it for the M&P mags, as well as one that runs 1911, .45acp mags. I love this rifle. My Buddies have all come to the conclusion that this rifle is WAAAAY more fun than a fella outta have with his clothes on!! It ain't cheap, but it is a 'hoot ta shoot'!
