I don't think anyone has said a watch, yet. But an accurate watch I'd say is key too. Time / pace matters. Not being able to tell how much time you have will lead to wastes of time.
I have to say, this is probably my favorite watch. The thing cost me $10. The battery is nearly 5 years old at this point, and still going. Each year, it's only off by 30ish seconds so far if even that much.

I have One of both sizes in my bags, as well as one on my key chain. I honestly can’t remember the last time that I was without one.works with just a flat stone too any abrasive surface .. ..

Only thing I changed on mine was added a nato strap and greased the internal gasket with some Molykote 111 to increase water resistance a bit.
Apparently you can also fill it with mineral oil and make it usable as a dive watch as well.
