Move out to NYC from Nassau County with a Rifle.

Hi, I will have to move out to NYC from Nassau County a few months after.

I have one SKS rifle, but it seems like not legal in NYC. (due to 10 rounds magazine and bayonet)

Can I use a gun storage service outside of NYC or NYS to keep my rifle? (While I'm living in NYC)

If I can, please recommend a gun storage service.

If not...... I should sell my SKS rifle before move out...

Is there any way I can legally move to New York City with my gun?

Can I get a license if I modify my rifle to comply with the NYC law?

If anyone well knows the law, has a gun in New York City, or has moved to New York City from another area, I'd like to ask you for advice.

all of the above ...

but if you got a few 100 rnds for it or a spam can .. you can store it here no fee's so I and my fiends can shoot it at times to keep it working ...

Sell it before you come to NYC. You cannot own any firearms in NYC unless you have a permit, not a shotgun, rifle, or even an air gun!!! Live in Nassau Cty to be close to the city. That’s what I did. The commute sucks. Good luck.

NYC requires a rifle/shotgun permit for all Long guns and all must be reg. w/ NYPD.
As you have already stated, you can't have an SKS in NYC (NYC uses their own definition for assault weapons. The NYC assault weapon ban came way before the NY Safeact.
modifying it will not change anything. for example you can modify an AR15 all you like but you still can't have it in NYC .)

Do you have family/ friends outside of NYC that can hold it for you?
You have your reasons for moving to NYC... maybe it's for family, work, or you like the NYC life style. Etc... Good luck.

My nephews left the suburbs to live & work in NYC. He's young, he loves the atmosphere of living in the city. He found living in the suburbs boring. To each their own. Maybe he'll come back when he's ready to have a family.

I'm a former NYC Lic holder.

It may be better to legally transfer it via 4473 for liability reasons to someone else, not just "let them hold it."

Just my two cents.
