Won’t catch me eating any of them (anymore). 18 years in the service (C-Rats before them) and the two tours in Afghanistan as a civilian was enough for a lifetime. However, if you throw them at hungry people you may be able to get away from the zombies before they eat you.

Ate my fair share of them as well...remember the old, dark/reddish brown bagged meals?
Funny how you can't hardly cut into one, but a Raccoon will slice it open and leave nothing but the Mylar covered foil.

I don't know. In Viet Nam we ate C-Rations. Only the LRRPS got MREs.

I still have one of the tiny Tabasco bottles, unopened. Man, I ate my share of those things and survived.

I got plenty of MREs. I prefer canned foods and doing my own pressure canning, along with dehydration.

I'm either very weird, or my body handles MREs just fine.

At one point I used to eat them to see which ones I liked and yes, I was kind of addicted to them. I used to eat them at my other place of work, and folks thought I was odd.

Made a bunch of venison jerky this weekend.

I grew up poor and ate whatever was put in front of me, and as a child had no qualms about grabbing a handfull of Horse Feed or Dog Chow...looking at my size, I'd say it didn't hurt one damn bit.
MRE's didn't bother me either, especially after learning real quick how a package of Ramen Noodles and a Fuel Tab would change the dynamics of any Main Course...seemingly most of the other Grunts were used to Mamma's Cooking and were either too dumb or lazy to actually prepare the Meal, even on the move, a Fuel tab in a the ground would heat a Canteen Cup of Water too hot to drink under five minutes...'course there's no meal a soldier won't find something to bitch about.
