Until a no good fuck assaults a cop up the street from where you're having dinner with your family and is shot and before you know what's happening you're surrounded by a mob and are at their mercy because you're unarmed.
Do as you wish, but me, I will not be a victim. I am always in control. If someone wants to challenge me to that point, they will have a very bad day. I will not be intimidated. I will stand up for what is right and just. I am ready for what is coming.
We have already seen many videos of people just going about their lives and being surrounded and overrun. Are you just going to bow to them and raise your black power fist? I'm not. I have countermeasures and know when I can use them. Whoever fucks with me is going to get a big surprise and they aren't going to like it.

Not entirely incorrect. I posted a thread here toying with the idea of toting a scattergun in my truck. It’s on my mind, but I feel there’s also a lot of fear which isn’t warranted for a huge number of folks.

Completely right. But I also chafe at the misanthropy that kinda prompts. I do deliberately choose to stay away from urban centers, and my company has done a good job at threading that needle as well.
I"ve had my permit for 15 months. I have NEVER left my house without a gun since then. Now, I'm just on an automatic habit to arm up when I get dressed. I carry all day even if I'm not leaving the house. When I do leave the house I always have 1 if not 2 spare mags. This is my life now. I will not be caught off guard. I will not submit to domestic or foreign terrorists. I am an American.

Whether I'm carrying or not sure as Fuck not going to raise a BP fist. I was actually thinking about that the other day. Can be pretty stubborn owing to my German roots lol. Generally pretty easygoing in everyday life. Threaten my wife or boy all bets are off. At end of day we don't really know until confronted with it. Yeah I get that. I'm by no means tough but will definitely stand my ground and not give in. Only been in one bar "fight" my entire life some douche bag cold cocked me when I was sitting on a bar stool. I looked at him and laughed lol. Kinda plays into my point though. Almost nobody ever needs any kind of defensive or offensive weapon. I can think of two times where anybody in my fam or extended fam ever used or needed a gun: one was my Pa, who racked his 20ga and scared off some alleged robbers some time before I was born, the other is my wife’s cousin who was murdered almost on my birthday. Keep a gun on you? Yes, do it, I hope the adrenaline dump doesn’t keep it from being effective. Is it needed by everyone? Not necessarily. I don’t like the constant fear and paranoia surrounding keeping yourself armed all the time. It’s simply a good idea, and I don’t appreciate the peddling of fear surrounding it. It’s not necessary.
BUT ... Trayon will never burgularize another home, nor murder another "White Hispanic", will he ?

Maybe so. I’m not aware that it was proven that Martin was a robber, unless my attention dropped off afterwards and something else came up.
Part of my reticence comes from my Pa, a Vietnam vet and while not technically an SF operator, was partially SF trained and ran with some SOG guys as an intelligence detail. He carries but has always told me not to, because the combat rush will make raising the stakes not worth it.
Now you tell me. I’ve never had that kind of encounter. I’m balancing a lot of stuff I don’t know against one another.

Of course it is. Just not as close as you might think. My cousin (wife’s cousin? Does it make a difference? I have trouble with family classifications like that) kind of put herself in that position. She made bad choices which caused other actors to make bad choices. I’d like for her to have had a pistol that night. But really, if you’re acting in good faith, stay armed, but don’t tell me imminent death is always around the corner. It’s disingenuous and paints a worse picture of our country than is necessary.
I understand you train of thought. Wrong or right? Makes no difference. But, there are nasty people everywhere. I never try to push this doom and gloom; but when I hear people say the evil is not close, I can do nothing but laugh.
