I like the form factor of my CVA Wolf, but I wanted a stock with a little more heft to help with balance and recoil. I opted for a Boyd's "walnut" stock. It looks nice. But, I'm pretty sure its laminate with a walnut stain. I know laminates offend lumber purists. However, in my experience, laminates are more durable and less prone to contraction and expansion due to weather conditions. Any way, I shoots nice.
For the lumber purists, I also picked up a Traditions Hawken Woodman 50 cal. percussion side-lock. It shoots 50 caliber patched round balls. I'm hoping to use it in late muzzleloading season. I'll use the CVA for regular season in rifle-restricted properties. I've been able to hit deer-vital zone size targets out to 150 yards. But, the energy equation say to limit shots to 75 yards.
