Eh, it happens man. I'm sitting here waiting to pull the trigger (haha) on an LPK and a handguard, I've otherwise got an entire 18" Wylde sitting next to my workbench.

Yea I am going to snag up the rest of small stuff since that's just a few bucks but have to save up for that barrel bolt combo.
As long as I get all this done and able to sight it I'm before deer season I'll be happy.

How does that work if it's on your permit as a pistol? The whole "was a pistol / now a rifle thing is ok but was a rifle / now a pistol thing is not ok"?
Nope it's still a pistol.. there has never been a stock on the lower, but there is also no Maxim length for a pistol barrel
Edit, so the upper can bounce around as whatever. The lower is the only actual pistol or rifle, so as long as I dont put a stock on the lower receiver then I can toss on whatever upper I want

It does work the other way too. Pistol to rifle is ok, not the other way around.
Yes a pistol can become a rifle (ie SBR or even rifle rifle)
But a rifle can never become a pistol
So I purchased the stripped lower from the FFL. We did the 4473 I passed, went home with the lower, next day when my permit office was open I went in and gave them my receipt, they put the receiver ("frame" as they worded it) on my license, gave me my purchase ticket thing, and I took that back to my FFL the next day whe they were open
So on the 4473 you marked "other"? Also when added to the permit what was provided for caliber?

Nope they didnt screw up, that's what I told them, I got a stripped gen 4 glock 17 frame but I can put a .40sw or .357sig upper on if I wanted so I said multi caliber so that's what my FFL put on the paper work and that's what they put on my license
I would have done the same with the G19 frame before it if I knew they would but didnt know at the time
Yea I know some counties are real shit with different calibers and some wont do multi but I lucked out with having a good county to deal with
I was originally going to just add 5.56/.458socom but then we said wait let's do multi and I showed my permit were I got my G17 as a multi so we did the lower as such so I can build all the uppers lol It worked out extra for me since I am now leaning 450bushmaster
Do you have a super cool not faddish FFL around to talk to, they may have done this before or tried and can either help or tell you they have already tried and failed

And cause I'm not above derailing my own threads like any other.. side note I know your a sig fan. Have you seen the new competition oriented p320x5 legion that they apparently added Tungsten powder to the polymer mix
If I eventually do a big bore, it would probably be 450 also, just because of ammo availability
This is honestly why I am ultimately going with the. 450 (God I so want a 458socom) but I was at the local shop the other day and asked how often they get .450bm ok the shelf and they walked over and showed me they had it right then and there I didnt catch the price or what kind..
Then looking at the prices online even, least expensive. 458socom was right around most expensive hunting ammo for the bushmaster and from the very limited info for shorter barrels. Both rounds seem to be pretty close

Competition thing. Heavier guns have less recoil.. I believe production has a 46oz or 49oz weight limit (cant remember off the top of my head but it's less than 50oz but more than 40oz
Alright so I have been checking out some factory loads for the bushmaster and playing guessing game with velocity for a 12.5" barrel.
Looks like most loads are a 250 grain bullet going (advertised) 2,200fps, I'm going to guess that it's from a 16" barrel but have no way of knowing.. and I figure 25-50fps loss per inch.
So on the high side of 4" losing 200fps I'll be looking at a 250 grain pill going about 2,000fps which should give me about 2,220 FT LB of energy at the muzzle which isnt bad at all...
I figure I can get into hand loading and maybe even work up some loads to try and get closer to the 2,200fps with the shorter barrel and that will give me about 2,687 ft LB if energy which is even better. I can do small batches of handloads just for hunting and off the shelf stuff for fun at the range
