Built a carbon fiber barreled 204 for yote hunting, with a low mass bolt carrier. It seemed light as hell,,,, till I stuck the Iray Bolt thermal scope on it. Now it feels like I didn't go far enough with the weight reduction. Still somewhat satisfied with it though. Im really satisfied that I didn't choose a AR10 build
I had to weigh mine. Its a DPMS LR 308 with the stock 16” barrel and a Doublestar ARFX buttstock. The scope is a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 with the sunshade and Butler Creek caps on a Vortex cantilever mount.
Rugers new .308 AR, on an AR-15 lower that has an extended magwell, comes in pretty light. 7-8 lbs or so
16" bbl is too short, but an 18" would be perfect.
The Remington DPMS/SR-25 AR10 with 20" fluted floating bbl is what I have....Thordsen stock, no muzzle device. Noticably heavy, compared to my AR Mk12 clones.
Mean Arms sells a .308 Mag loader for .308, besides .223. and a mag lock might work on the new Ruger, making it NYS Legal.
