Maybe they were either a H&R pardner or Stevens shotgun. They're usually priced in that ball park. I've handled both at a LGS last yr. The H&R was heavy and cycling is rough. The Steven was a little better ( a maverick is better than either.) But for the money/ for someone that wants a shotgun for HD it isn't bad.As recently as two months ago or so my local walmart had a ton of the cheap (not maverick but some other brand) 12 gauge for like $200/piece, even as everything else was substantially sold out. I've a friend who also keeps talking about it but has never gotten around to it for some reason.
I would normally say save your (buyer) money and buy a Rem 870 or Moss 500 or some thing even nicer. But given today's atmosphere (panic buy) you may have to grab what ever you can find if you're shopping.
