My Fightlite SCR build

Just thought I would share my Fightlite SCR build. I know a few of you built some of these. So for those who are interested, I can give you my assessment of the lower. I have read these had terrible triggers but mine does not. To me it feels like a 4.5-5lb trigger. Not much creep. Now since these use a special bolt carrier, the upper comes off a little differently than your your standard AR15. You have to pull both pins out and pull the upper forward a hair and lift it out. Not a big deal. To operate the charging handle is a little more difficult than the AR15 because of where your hand placement is due to no pistol grip. I think I'm going to convert it to a side charging handle. If any of you have any personal experience with any, let me know.

Very nice! I changed the charging handle to a larger one as it was hard to work with the scope mounted.

I think the only thing I'm bummed about with the scr is the mag release. Its a minor issue I just wish the found a way to have it work like a standard ar15 maybe make their own extended idk.

I put a Troy Industries ambi-release on mine also, just push out the roll pin and flip it reinstall roll pin, works well doing mag changes left handed.

I have three SCRs and two spare SCR bolt carriers. They are a nice option in communist states. Not sure if I am going to keep all three now that I have moved out of NY.

By looking at their site it seems the no longer offer the composite stocks, I could be mistaken but your's may be in demand?

Yep all three are the composite Monte Carlo stock too.

Looks clean. Very good option for NY. Definitely the safest route for a featureless build if one doesn’t want to put up with any potential BS.

I believe @RooftopKorean did a build with a side charger that didn’t utilize the SCR bolt and recoil system where both were built into the upper itself.

Had to modify the BRN-180 upper some. If you want to use a stock like the Magpul SGA870 or something that cannot accommodate the recoil system you will need to make a thread adapter for the stock but it will allow you much more options.

I also bent the Magpul BAD lever some in order to get it to work on the SCR and bought a faux flash hider and had it pinned since the BRN-180 has a scary feature - threads.

Remington has been on the fritz and I suspect that is where they were getting them from. I go believe the wood stocks they get from Boyd's stocks.

That would make sense, it is a 870 stock. Enjoy your's!!

Technically, 1100, since that already accommodates a similar recoil system. While most 1100 stocks will fit 870s (the 1100 being a successor to the 878, which was in essence a gas-operated 870, this makes sense), the opposite is not true (see, for example, the Magpul SGA.)

I originally wanted a walnut stock but my distributor only had the gray laminate. I can always go to Boyd's and get a stock. How is your trigger in yours? I read a lot of complaints but mine is really nice.

Both of mine are Ares-branded, but just after the initial batch with the terrible triggers. I also dropped in JP reduced-power hammer springs. They're not precision triggers, by any means, but they are decent. At least as good as Mil-Spec.

Both of mine were ordered years ago, too, but I used the KAC one. If you have reasonably long fingers, works great. The price on that AU one is intriguing. It's clearly a direct reproduction of Norgon's, but at 1/3 the price (that usually rings bells for me, as meaning a Chinese-brand copy.) I'd have to try one to see if it works as easily for me.

Yeah, by Norgon. Colt Canada uses Norgon's patent for theirs, which is why they say "Thoroughly tested and used as an OEM Part by Colt." All a little misleading, and the price makes me wonder if they skimped on the manufacturing.

Well, with a lifetime replacement warranty, for $25 how could you go wrong? If it ends up being crap, at least it didn't break the bank. The Norgon ones are solid though.
