My new handgun!!

I stopped by my LGS this morning, and found a nice compact XDS 9, with a 3.3" barrel. I'm a sucker for FDE, and had to fondle it. I walked out the door 10 minutes later with my new handgun. NO NICS check because I have my KY CCDW, so it literally took longer for me to fill out the 4473, than it did for the rest of the deal. $350 OTD.

Here's a picture of it with my new EDC knife, an MZ Model Z04. This knife is rock solid, and has ball bearing mechanics (only 96 of this model/color combination to be made!). These knives are made in small quantities, locally here in my County. This particular model is actually personally assembled and sharpened by Russ Burke, who is a custom knife maker. I also have one of his Z02 spring assisted knives, that I bought to bring back there to my Son in May.

@Darth that's the way it worked in Texas with a CHL. Or at least use to when I was living there. The logic being if you still had your CHL you were ok to have a gun. I miss that place.

I get the no BGC part, but then why the hubbub with filling out a 4473?

Mo I would like a review of the knife. I've been itching to upgrade to a new EDC knife and those prices seem too low. So a good honest review would be appreciated.

Yep, if you have your KY CCDW no BGC is required. I'm not sure about the 4473, perhaps it's like MilesTeg said; in case the feds come poking through their business.

I've had the knife for a couple of weeks now. It sure seems solid enough, with absolutely no wobble in the blade when opened, and solidly built. I did meet Russ 1 day at the shop, he seems like a GREAT guy, who is making a GREAT product. He reminded me that if my knife ever needs resharpening to just drop it off at my LGS, and he will pick it up and resharpen it and have it back in a couple of days. I actually like the weight of the Z02, as it is actually a bit heavier. Other than that, I can't offer a long-term opinion, but it seems like it should be a GREAT EDC knife. I understand the skepticism, all I can say is I'm happy with mine. I figured for $30-$35 why wouldn't I try it. After having it for a bit, I decided to get the other one for my Son.

I've never had any issues or long wait times for background checks, but I will tell you it's nice being in and out super quick. Same here in Georgia

Nice purchase and at a good price. I love FDE as well I nearly brought a Glock 26 in FDE but opted for the 43 instead. Nice knife as well and at $35 that's quite a deal as well.

BUT, I was OTD with it in 10 mins. No going to a permit office, and going back to pick up my gun. Like I said, done in 10 mins. I guess that was the point I was making.
