This is my home range, secret location. At first I thought I'd be shooting air gun, as I've been shooting various springers and 10m air pistol in my basement and earlier, shorter versions of this home range. I figured I'd spend the coin and get a fancy PCP rifle (like a RAW or FX) and spend my time plinking now that I have 50m targets.
But jeesh is that boring. Like benchrest... one shot at a time, fussy as all get out.
On a lark I bought a KJW 2011 Airsoft pistol from airsplat.com. And I'm impressed... semi-auto, realistic feel, genuine blow back (light recoil impulse). The Green Gas doesn't like cool weather but I picked up a CO2 canister magazine and off-the-shelf CO2 carts... I know these won't work in cold-cold but in 50-60 degrees they still punch pretty well. $200 for everything including a season's supply of gas and balls.
I took a bunch of old steel targets I had and the 6mm airsoft balls make a nice ring and the gun is pretty accurate. Not as precise as my 10m air pistol but not unlike a real firearm. I can run and gun, hose targets... and better yet, no 10-round limitation.
Pretty happy with the set-up. I still may get a PCP air rifle since having a 50m range is optimal for airguns but this is a lot of fun.
