My Son is Moving To a Freer RKBA State

My son is moving to Arkansas soon. He will live with a friend for awhile, until he finds a job and an apartment. Such is youth, nothing lined up for sure but he is going regardless of that. He cannot stand NY State and its anti-gun mania and its uber leftist laws plus the outrageous costs of everything and the taxes.

Once he gets a pistol permit down there, I have a new in the box RIA 45 to send to his local FFL from my local FFL ( from my FFL as required by the tyrants running Nassau County).

No you do not need a permit to posses a pistol in Arkansas but you do need one to carry (and there is no open carry in that state). So if you want to carry a pistol in AR, you in essence need a pistol permit, or if you want go ahead and call it a CCW.

Regardless, a CCW license is still a permit (permit = license in the English language). If you really want to split hairs and be very precise then let me say that Arkansas does not require a pistol permit to own/possess a pistol nor a license called a CCW. Arkansas has a Concealed Handgun Carry License (CHCL). When my son gets one of those, I will send him the pistol via dealers who are FFL holders. I have insisted he do that so that he does not, in a forgetful state of mind, decide to carry it concealed without the license and then get himself in trouble with the local constabulary.

Well he made it through NYC and NJ. In PA and now on a route that goes through MD. I told him to avoid MD but he is following a change that Google Maps threw at him. I was hoping he would go through OH and south from Cincinnatti. Oh well, one more tyranical state to get through on his trek to relative freedom.

Brendan stopped over in Nashville last night. Should be in Benton by about 3 today (CST). I wish I was with him but am confident he would rather I not be there right now since he is heading out to make it on his own.

Already checked cost of nonresident hunting license for my anticipated future hunting ttips down there. It is $350. OUCH!

My son got to Benton AR at about 3PM AR time (central standard time). At 237 PM AR time, he sent me this photo of himself and what he caught, from what looks like a mud hole, in just under 24 hours after his arrival.





He may have moved down there to find a job and get his own place but why not at least have fun until Monday! Anyway, catching his own dinner is a good way to be frugal until he gets a job.

Only 17 days In AR so far and so far my son caught a nice sized catfish, looked at several places to live, aapplied for several jobs, went to DMV to get his Arkansas CDL Class A driver's license, been to a party or three, got himself an apartment and renter's insurance, bought himself a new Glock 43 and ammo for it, hooked himself up with a part time job until he could get a full time one and bought new furniture for the apartment.

Today he was offered a full time job, the one that offered the second best starting pay and that comes with benefits, contingent on him passing a drug test. I am certain he will pass - and he says he will pass it! He also just passed one for Homer's Terminal, that's where he got the part time job. He is staying with the part time job until the offer is fulfilled for the full time one. Right now, he is up on a mountain somewhere "throwing shoes".

The next thing you know he will tell me he has hooked up with some fine southern belle and they are getting hitched. No, stop right there, before he does that I am sure he will take the AR Concealed Handgun Carry License training class and then put in his application for the carry license. He probably will get in some shooting, hunting, fishing and drinking with his buddies too. After that, he may get hitched but I think not before. Anyway, he definitely is a man on the move. I am quite proud of him.

When it comes to Brendan, I have very little to complain about if anything. Same goes for my daughter.

As for me getting out of NY, I would leave in a heartbeat but for my wife refusing to leave and pretty soon that may not stop me.
