Just remember to have your mom handy as a designated driver. That shows responsibility.I find 8-10 shots of whiskey before a stressful meeting tends to take the edge off.

We dont call them that but my point is that there is no waiting.Adding the gun is the amendment.. they are "amending" the license

Pay for a gun, go to pp office, go pick up gun.
I realize other counties call this process and amending your permit is what we are doing but ive never heard it called that until I joined this site. We juat call it adding a gun.
The point is, I can decide to buy a handgun right now and be home with it in an hour.I mean tech you still have a wait... at best how every long to go to the office update license and get back to gun shop. Not so best case, office is closed... (I get what you are saying but... lol )
This is how it should be. Well, I mean we shouldn't have the permit process and all the garbage in the first place but since we do for now, once you pass everything and a judge signs off on your permit, you should be able to purchase whatever you want and not have to add anything to your permit. It's really dumb that a judge has to approve every handgun purchase. If they trust you enough to give you a pistol permit, they should trust you enough to buy pistols...but hey, it's NY. Since we do have to list every handgun on our permit, it should still be as simple as you buy your gun, swing over to the pp office, add the new gun and go pick it up same day. In my county it depends on the judge you get and whether or not they will allow another judge to sign off on the amendment. So it can sometimes be in the same day (though if so, it's likely not to be on the spot. You'll get a call a few hours later to come get your coupon) but usually it is a day or two or even a couple of weeks. We dont call them that but my point is that there is no waiting.

Do they not give you a purchase coupon? We have to fill out and sign an amendment form, which also asks you if you are a felon, lol. They print out a form that has the new pistol info that goes to the judge who then signs it and that is your coupon for picking up your gun from the ffl. The clerk calls you when it comes back from the judge, they print out a new permit with the added gun(s), they give you your new permit and coupon to pick up your new gun, you had over your old permit and off you go. It's $3/gun here as well.I guess thats the difference.
A judge does not have to approve your amendment here.
To add a pistol you just give the pp clerk your receipt for your gun from the LGS. They just print out a new permit with the new gun on it....it costs $3.
Our local judge is extremely 2A friendly and the whole pp system has been slimmed down as much as possible.
They only issue full carry permits.
annnnd,
Believe it or not, people here still complain about the process.
They have no idea how "good" we have it until I tell them about some of the horror stories I hear on this site.
No judge involved at all.Do they not give you a purchase coupon? We have to fill out and sign an amendment form, which also asks you if you are a felon, lol. Well thats a given. They should complain about the process because its unconstitutional
There are other counties that do things our way but I do see other Republican leaning counties that dont.
I think because they don't want you with multiple copies of your permit. I know that at least for my county that is the case. But as well as we have it, everyone asks why the FFL cant just add it in a computer, then the pp office can send new permit in the mail.
Got the license Sept 13. Took maybe 5.5 months I don't remember the date I submitted the application. Picked up the card and 2 tickets. Went immediately to LGS. Used one ticket, returned the other.I just read all this .. never seen a word that he has his permit yet .. and its now 4 months
seen @Kirk_STNY posted yesterday .. glad your still alive ..
reminds me of the NJ lady killed by X-BF while waiting for her permit ..
