A close friend of mine had this happen to him a few weeks ago. Guy broke into his house and my friend woke up just as the guy was going to come in his room. So, friend jumps up on his bed and screams at the intruder and he takes off. I asked him if he's going to arm himself as a result. His response "I'm fine, he's fine, all ended up ok, so no". My response, "So what of the next old guy who tries to fight and is beat nearly to death, or the woman who might be raped? It's not your job to dole out justice, but don't be so quick to say that no harm no foul is a successful outcome. What if he wasn't a pussy? Or if he was armed? You got lucky. Plain and simple".

Good on Richard though.
