There is an angle on the money side of things that I have not seen mentioned anywhere. Indeed, I have not seen any single article even ask the money question.
In pervert circles, there are a lot of perverse "tastes" and "fantasies," which makes sense in a demonic sort of way. After all, these are people who don't know the difference between a lock and a key, or the difference between an electrical socket and an electrical plug...
One possibility is freelance prostitution. There are plenty of sickos with money who want to indulge, and the digital infrastructure (hook up apps) to find another freak so that they can get their fantasy fulfilled is out there. It doesn't even have to drift off into the worse types of madness some of the people dream of and participate in. Someone with money who wants what they want immediately would not hesitate to hire someone. Almost as easy as ordering a pizza in any given city or town. Their entire "lifestyle" is rooted in promiscuity and the hook up culture. That goes for a lot of "straight" people too.
I am not saying this was the case here. I've seen no evidence or mention at all of that. However, it is not uncommon to find stories from people who regret their sexual decisions and try to turn their lives back around who will talk about the underground prostitution freakshow. Its a much larger culture than most normal people want to admit or know about.
These are people who can never satisfy their appetites or find satisfaction in their "love lives," because their appetites are unnatural and evil. They cast about for the next experience to cover over the truth that they have buried deep down.

I don't think they'd have been carrying guns outside of the US Supreme Court, which was supposed to be the venue. Maybe some handguns concealed in their corsets, but not openly carrying rifles or other long guns.
As far as I know, open carry of any gun in DC is completely restricted.

One can still go to a store and buy them if they want. These questionable books can most likely still be purchased in a store or online. If they were truly banned you wouldn't be able to do that.
