Someone so needs to be fired over this. Thankfully, a wise business man is about to sit in the Oval Office and will reign in this kind of ridiculous spending and will take a more common sense approach on behalf of the American military and the American taxpayer. Don't get me wrong, I want our military to have the absolute best of the best and every resource imaginable while in service and out, but this was not a smart move.

I'd love to shoot the thing though.

Are our enemies worth that much? Why not pay some of their servants to feed them poison Camelburgers and call it done?

How does this sound, tell Lockheed we will no longer be buying anymore of your tech, see how fast the price drops. Trump already brought this up, when your companies main source of income is your military contract you bet your ass you can get a better deal. lobbys hard at work at Lockheed.

Guys don't understand, there's deep entrenchment in the Military Industrial Machine which exists between the U.S. govt and U.S. Defense Contractors... A symbiotic existence! Locked would have no problem selling its wares, knowledge and expertise to China or other high bidders, lol... So the U.S. govt keeps them on the nipple. These guns, the tech and all the necessity exists to stay one step ahead of the competition. The cost is all the research rolled up into the pricing. The science, research and development comes at a cost. Sure, we can institute "controls". But if you ever been involved in Govt contracts you'd know what a quagmire it is. Are companies expected to develop something to Govt specs which technology doesn't exist for and take it on the chin? And even at $1,000,000 per round, what's an American Serviceman's life worth? If it saves one, is it worth it rather than using our most valuable asset (human lives) to waste?

So let's have a dream weapon, but you can't tell me how to build it, I need to do all the research and develop something new, then assemble a plan, make sure it works, test, test , test it, test it again for demonstration, then assemble and actual working model with a plan and hope to build or make enough to cover your expenses and then make a profit. Each step is arguous and excruciating, the Gov't makes it difficult to near impossible. Spec, design and submittals get chewed up and Spit back to you and take ridiculous time to have approved to allow the next step forward. Then the collection of the whole becomes the instrument of your design. You do get nickle and dimed along the entire process and questioned by those without knowledge as to WHY this or that, yet they can't defend the resistance or reluctance to move forward, only that they need to justify their existence by making it known they had input from their level. I could explain in more detailed fashion, but it wouldn't do any good...

I'm all for technology, and I have no problem with the U.S. defense spending as long as it produces results. The red tape quagmire of the system and its built in inefficiencies that resulted in the $500 Navy Toilet Seat though need to go. That alone will save billions upon billions...

During my time in the Army I spent some time in northern Africa. Two times ai tried camel meat. It is the most disgusting, vile, rancid slop you can put in your mouth. One of the times it was cooked by a very accomplished cook, a 60yr old mother of one of our African team. Vile animal.
