More people died from firearm injuries in the United States last year than in any other year since at least 1968, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There were 39,773 gun deaths in 2017, up by more than 1,000 from the year before. Nearly two-thirds were suicides. It was the largest yearly total on record in the C.D.C.’s electronic database, which goes back 50 years, and reflects the sheer number of lives lost.

Like someone sadly hell bent on suicide won't find another way to accomplish the task if they didn't have a gun. I'm very sorry people choose that as an answer. In saying this I'll repeat what the service member said in front of a legislative board locally a few years ago. "My rights trump your dead."

That article is as biased as can be. It talks about gun violence, links to drugs, etc.

But it *very intentionally* hides the fact that the s0-called increase in “gun deaths” is attributable to suicides, not homicides.

Perhaps suicide prevention is the issue that the health folks should tackle.

The US is still ranked around 34th in the world for suicides. Linking firearms with suicide is a weak argument. Those determined to do so will find a way.

And... If the suicide rate among trannies is about 41% and the suicide rate among gun owners is somewhere between 0.004% and 0.0004%, maybe guns aren't the real problem.

i have a hard time believing this is accurate. Especially when they state this determination is "according to her analysis", her being "Dakota Jablon, who analyzed the C.D.C. data for the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence".
So I'm supposed to believe a biased statistics interpreter? Nope, sorry, you have not proven to me that you are not influencing the outcome of your 'analysis'.

So twice as many people overall died from drug overdoses than from firearms, (discounting that 2/3 of the firearm deaths were deliberate suicides) but we have no need for a wall to try to control the influx of illegal drugs, but we definitely need to remove guns from everyone but their praetorians?
