need a recommendation for a chassis stock for a remington 700 short action

i bought a new remington sps varmint 308 with a 26" barrel mounted s stiener T5Xi 5 to 25 scope and put a trigger tech trigger in it it's an amazing shooter well under a half inch group at 100 yards with hand loads the problem I'm having is that I can't get a good cheek weld I put an after market cheek riser on it and it helped but I'm not in love with the feel I have an Magpul hunter on another remmy but I'm looking for something a little more sophisticated any thoughts? I have to say that if this rifle is any indication of the new Remington I wouldn't hesitate to buy another `1 I think so much of it that I sent my VTR to Hart to barrel it in 308 that just maybe I'll change it to a 6.5 creedmore

IMO if it shoots 1/2 moa consistently I would not touch a thing and resort to an aftermarket comb raiser and adjustable but plate if you have to. I wod not even take out the action and mess with the current torque settings and harmonics.
If you refer to 1/2 as potential when you can get more confortable then I think Mcmillan or B&C at a budget all well proven battle tested formulas. A bedding job might not be needed but it is pretty commonly needed and recommended. You can do a blue die test

Is your preference a cold or a warm chassis?

My preference is a warm chassis as i have a more confident and natural grip amd they attenuate resonance better and potential harmonics issues. I guess it is the way I was trained and what I grew up with.

i don't know what a warm or cold chassis is? it is consistant so far with 2 loads the barrel isn't broken in yet i still have to try a 175 grain load it likes 168 grain sierra match kings so far

Warm is a way to classify all the typical stocks made of good, plastic, fiber, composite etc like hunting, target/bench rest, classic sniper rifles that are warm to the touch and are filled with the material and whether they have an internal aluminum or carbon rigid structure and all the wood or other material creating the overall shape or structure.

A cold chassis is a short word for modern skeletonized / modular chasis made of aluminum and with pistol grips, ar stocks and whether they have a plastic or polimer skin or not. They feel cold to the touch, many times heavier, and resonance is more evident due to their style / construction.

It is not whether one might have to deal with the unpleasant feeling of aluminum on ones hand on a cold morning but how one processes the feedback given while driving the rifle.

The best way I can describe it is one can have a super sports car and have one with a confort package while the other might be one with a tuned suspension where one can feel every little bump even each gravel rock and feel every noise.

Both can drive very fast. It is a matter of what the customer prefers and how the feedback one gets helps or not.
