Need Help - Gunsmith for 1862 Colt Army Black Powder

Those are about fifty years past my time line Gat, I don't know much about them other than I think they are pretty cool.
Fenucho, is it an original Colt, a newer rerelease by Colt, or one of the Italian imports like Uberti or Pietta ? If you can't figure it out and its a Colt, just contact them for servicing. The imports have a pretty good network of shops that will work on those.
If you were closer I'd take a look at it, once you get inside this things you find they aren't all that complicated. Good luck!!!!

I'd say the missing screw is your culpret. You have a hammer screw, trigger screw and a bolt screw. With a screw missing, one of those components will not be lining up right and the mechanism is likely binding up. It could also be an issue with the trigger sear not mating up to the knotches on the hammer. When I was trying to fit my 1873 Cattleman (colt single action army clone) with the traditional trigger, so I could get the iconic "four clicks" when cocking the hammer (uberti introduced a new safety which eliminated the 4th click), I ran into an issue with the hammer not staying back when trying to fit a close but not exact trigger. I finally source the right one and everything works perfectly.

The actions on these types of pistols are not that complicated. There are video's on youtube that show you how to disassemble and reassemble.

I used you tube to disassemble my uberti walker. Not too complicated. @ArmedCorgi is right about the screws keeping everything in alignment.

I have no idea on value but I’ve always wanted a gun like this. I likely can’t afford it but let me know the price when you figure it out. Prices seem to vary wildly though from what I saw.Thanks all. I looked up the serial number on the Colt site.

Was it made in 1860 or the remake colt did in the late 1980's? Wish I had bought one back then, same great sleek gun, modern materials. Got a picture?

Do they have a good single action smith there? Or are they good at appraisals?
Both, Dennis and Mary have been in business over 40 years, they both are very good at what they do. Mary deals with rare guns all the time and Dennis can make or repair just about anything.

I mean, just looking at similar Colts on GunBroker @Fenucho, they seem to be going from between the $500 mark all the way to $5,000+ depending on the condition/history, things matching Etc.. I'm no expert but common sense would suggest with a missing screw and subsequent non functioning condition of yours, I think it's safe to say it won't fetch thousands. Even if you do get it fixed, it would be a reproduction screw to replace the missing one and from a collectors stand point that would affect value. That said, it's still an original Colt so it's certainly worth more than a reproduction clone.
