Need some Safe Act info

Hey All,

Moving back to NY in a few weeks. (I've shared this a few months ago and realize many of you think I'm nuts) Anyway, I have a Rem 870 that has been retro fitted on the tactical side. It has a pistol grip and an extended tube....legal or not to bring back up? Where can I find, in laymans terms, the safe act info? Thanks

The only think you might run afoul of the safe act is in magazine capacity, depending on where you are moving to. The safe act restricts magazine capacity to 7 rounds, however, you MIGHT be fine if your moving to western NY where in federal district 2 there was an overturn of the 7 round limit, and you MIGHT be fine with 10. So research the laws carefully if you have a magazine extension over 2 additional rounds.

The laws are fuzzy, but if you have a 870 pump, in general you can have the "evil" features. Only magazine capacity MAY be a problem.

Over ten rounds is fine in shotgun as long as it's not semi. They sell Ksg, DP-12 and UTAS 15 round pump at gun stores all over NY.

Right but the DP12 has 2 - 7 round magazines....I don't pretend to be a lawyer, but as I read it a single magazine over 7 rounds might still be an issue. KSG and DP-12 don't have a single magazine over 10 rounds. An 870 with a 10 shot extension MAY be an issue...That's my point.

For semi the law is 7. For pump the law is 10.

The law goes by magazine and not total capacity in the gun. The KSG has two 7 round magazines. If they made it with 2 10 round magazines, it would be legal because it isn't Semiautomatic.

You are using Safe Act is a Noun

NY S.A.F.E. is an acronym for Secure Ammunition Firearms Enforcement.

Since the Secure Ammunition part has been shelved for now, can no longer be called NY S.A.F.E.
BUT should be called the Firearms Enforcement Act or FEA or FE Act.

Some times Journalists use the term safe act which denotes being safe as a verb or adverb. This usually exposes them as liberal assholes that have never touched a real gun and know more about bleaching sphincters than firearms.

You will see headlines like "Majority of New Yorkers feel safer because of the Governors Safe Act".
I mean who among us can be against safety?

This is called controlling the narrative.

Otherwise the headline would have to read: Majority of New Yorkers don't have a clue about the FE Act or FEA. When asked if we should repeal FEA 99 percent said Hell Yeah! Down with FEA!

If it was a Remington 1100 you would have a problem, 870 no problem. Pump not semi, law effects semi auto firearms.
