Funny they aren't admitting it anymore apparently, or trying to hide it. This is old but I just saw it for the first time.

Interesting, thanks for posting. Didn’t see it on the list but still interesting.
Hey I have to ask, what does it take to be an admin for a forum? I’ve been on forums for at least 18 years now and I was always curious what the criteria was to be an admin.
I wouldn't really say there is any requirement exactly. Certainly the technical knowledge of how things work is important. I've been on the staff of a few forums over the years. On NYF I was an admin based on a fairly high level of technical knowledge and.. because I was willing to take it on for no pay I guess; to move up from moderator to admin when there was a need for one. On this site there are currently only 3 staff members and all 3 are Admins/Owners who started the place together. Usually admins are just the people who started the place mostly, if not owners then people who were part of the original 'team'. Other than that, maybe moderators who have put in the time to know the ropes and the needs of the owners/admins whenever the need for an admin arises (maybe when one leaves, or doesn't have the time to do it, or whatever).
We're definitely going to take on a forum wide moderator or two (we really do need it), probably within the next few months (when we get our own shit together). We've got some people in mind who've already been helping us in some ways as low-key modertors of certain sections and stuff, but we haven't even posed the question to them if they want it as of yet . It's a thankless job, for no pay, and people will often hold enforcing any rules against you. It really has to be for the love of it...heh
