so after many years i finaly managed to get rid of my Ruger M77/22 so I'm in the market for a new 1 been looking at Savage or maybe the new Tikka please no Rugers I'm not a Ruger hater but after many years and many thousands of dollars they just don't work for me they look good but never seem to perform

Sorry to hear you didn't like the 77/22. I love mine especially after I put a Shilen factory contour barrel on it. It can put 10rds of CCI SV in a group a dime can cover at 50 yds off my rest!

thanks for the heads up on the Marlin hadn't thought of them Nortatoga you just confirmed my thoughts on Ruger you had to dump a bunch of money in it to make it shoot. I gave my M77/22 to 3 of my grand sons they all gave it back saying Grand pa it looks good but it will not shoot hmm don't know why I didn't look at CZ

Mine were. I own a few CZ rifles, .22 .22mag .17HMR and all were very accurate right out of the box. My newest is .223/5.56 and I expect it to be every bit as accurate as the others.

Ditto on CZ. Savage...maybe, but product consistency seems to be up and down. Browning makes some really nice stuff too, but I hear their triggers are not so hot. The straight pull is very cool.

You guys might laugh, and it's not a bolt gun, but have a Remington 597 that I bought in the late 80s (?), put a aftermarket hammer in it, tack driver. I believe these are now out of production. Used ones are pretty affordable.

+1 on the Savage Mark II. I have more than a few .22 rifles. Most are older, some lever guns, some bolt action, and just a couple auto loaders. BUT, the Mark II is my go to rifle, especially for squirrel hunting. I don't think you can go wrong with one.

took a hard look ay CZ they are definitly high quality smae way with the Tikka but with my new mantra to buy American as much as possible I've decided on the Mark11 savage thanks guys for all the recommendations they where helpfull

I think I might buy a Savage Mark II for squirreling. I think the still make a 17 HM2. That being said, I there was the an American rifle with the same Cost/Value ratio as a CZ, I would recommend it.
