The defense attorney, DA, and Judge on each specific case have far better insight to appropriately administering bail than a blind ass SJW fraud gimmic.

They don't show up even when they post bail, so what do we care? If you're arrested on a violent crime, you probably shouldn't get released whether or not you pay bail.

Exactly my thoughts. No punishment for kids anymore under 18, no cash bail, legalize weed, allow heroin injection sights, let gang members and drug dealers walk and we wonder why the crime rate is going up. It’s all the democrats.

Any crime that is only a financial penalty isn't a real crime but a taxation, nothing more then a state instituted cash grab. Real crimes doesn't deserve bonds.

So, I actually have a lot of thoughts about this.
I understand some of the reasons why the Left decided to pass this law.
Bail, in their eyes is unfair. The reason is simple; they say that whites can afford bail, non-whites cannot. Two people get arrested by the same department for the exact same crime. Both arrested have clean records. Both live in the same community, one is black and one is white. They are both given a bail amount of $5000 cash or bond. They say more cases than not, the white guy will bail out whereas the black guy cannot. White guy is out, free while the non-white is stuck in jail until his court day/trial. They, the Haters on the left, say this is unfair.
As for the youths, under 18, they really believe they are doing a great justice for these young lads. Youngers/minors going to jail do nothing to help the little ones.
These people do not live in or understand real world.
One thing I think that will be positive; the costs to hold these turds in jail will decrease. Will it be a long term savings in the long run? Only time will tell.
As for these mutts showing up or not showing up for their court cases? I would guess that the majority will not show up, warrants will be placed out and tie up many officers to serve and hunt down those that should have shown up.
Time will tell, I think it will be a failure. Maybe I will be wrong. Doubt it!

The point of bail is to ensure that people show up.
The problem is that poor and rich people have different incentives to show up.
Poor people have little incentive, and any bail bond large enough to ensure they show up is likely to be too much for them to afford.
Middle class or rich people almost don't need the bail. They have plenty of fixed assets that can be siezed later if they don't.
So, the fundamental problem of punishing people with nothing to lose, is that means you have nothing to take from them, and they have nothing anchoring them to the community.

If the constitutionally guaranteed right to a speedy trial were actually respected it wouldn't be necessary.
But when people spend years waiting for a trial the whole system has basically collapsed.
Add to that the fact that you can be held for years waiting trial, only to be found not guilty and you don't even get an apology.
Innocent or guilty, the process itself is punishment. In a just system your life wouldn't be ruined if you were found not guilty.

We have too many laws and those are written so poorly that it takes years to figure out if you have even broken the law.
