• Who will be the "medical professionals" performing such evaluations?
• Will medical professionals be willing to perform such evaluations?
• What medical professionals are qualified to perform these evaluations?
• Will evaluations be available at easily accessible sites throughout the state?
• What, exactly, will be asked during such an "evaluation?"
• How much will these professionals be paid for the evaluations?
• Who will pay for the evaluations?
• Will medical professionals be liable if someone they "clear" does something bad with a firearm?
• If such liability exists, will the professionals' medical malpractice cover such claims?
• If the professionals' current policies do not cover such claims, will the professionals be able to obtain additional insurance coverage?
• If medical malpractice insurance rises as a result of a professional participating in such evaluations, won't that necessitate more expensive evaluations?

In my opinion, this is another piece of useless, unproductive, unconstitutional, legislation that will be passed so that Governor Monkeyface can claim that he is "doing everything possible to prevent gun violence." However, just like with the ammunition background database, this process will never be practically implemented.

It is not useless.

It is specifically designed to further reduce gun ownership, add more barriers to entry into the shooting sports, further stigmatize gun owners, and tie up money and resources that would be spent fighting to remove other unconstitutional gun control laws.

To that end, it will work very well.

Let me say who will do this? Who will chance a no from a doctor. Not me. For the most part I have most everything I need. A few wants are missing but I can live with what I have. I’ll avoid this.

Also what DR will approve anyone. If I was a DR I’d say no. You’re saying so and so is fine to have a gun. What can you tell about a person from a 5-10 minute interview? If you approve them and they are the next mass shooter or murderer you’re screwed. You’ll be sued into oblivion.

I'm going to go ahead and say that most, if not all, mental health professionals are going to tell the state to go fuck themselves. This is bull shit they don't need or have time for. They are busy enough dealing with real patients with REAL mental health problems.
