I personally take this as an omission that they want to be able to shoot and kill civilians without having to worry about them having any form of armor. Just as I see the disarmament of a people as an omission that who ever is pushing for the disarmament whishes for the people who are disarmed to be easy victims.

Not sure I understand the logic with this bill. Body armor isn't dangerous. The whole point of it is to stop you from getting injured, not injure another person. Yeah, I mean you could beat someone with a steel plate, but if I wanted to beat someone with an object there are already things that are way better like baseball bats.

Edit: apparently plates are good, this is only for soft armor, wtf? makes even less sense now, if that's possible.

What if a child is caught with a bullet proof back pack? Their parent could have bought them one and forgot about it and then their child gets arrested and gets a criminal record.

The bill text mandates citizens surrender body armor and armored backpacks within 15 days. Contrary to some posts on this site considering "buy it while you can", it has no grandfather clause.

Get your kid a ceramic plate. They're better anyways. Body vest is legally defined as soft armor.


NY Penal Law § 270.20: Unlawful wearing of a body vest
A "body vest" is defined in the New York criminal code as a bullet-proof piece of soft body armor that provides protection from a shot from a .38 caliber handgun.

Just one more thing on a long list of reasons to leave this crumbling state. You would think we would have the numbers to vote these people out but I guess not. It's sad to think that in the not so distant future we will be just as shi**y as California. I'm sure some already think were there.

I know from previous forum posts that a fair amount of members here have body armor. Since it's a retro active ban (no grandfathering in legally purchased private property) anyone in possession of body armor will be committing a crime. I thank 0.0% chance people here care to comply with another insane law and your just going to see those posts mysteriously go away like they didn't happen. Body armor? What body armor.


I hate this state so incredibly much. I hate the liberal mentality and anyone that goes along with this big government BS.

i hate buying shit (clothing related ) without trying it on first ..

damn my normal foot were is ladies work/hiking boots cuz my foot is size 7 .. i look like a clown walking in mens 8's cuz they don't make men's in 7 . LOL ..

NYS uses Dominion Voting Systems so it may not matter how we vote.

I just sent an email to the assembly member Jacobson to reconsider this bill. I have no issue with strong laws and penalties for those commit crimes wearing vests. Banning them only hurts those of us who follow the law. I personally use a vest hunting, and at training and competitions.

Please consider sending an email, letter, phone call to him with some rational reasons why this bill is bad. We need to stand up to this type of legislation or NY is beyond a lost cause. Do something to protect your freedom here.

Maybe explain how the law, even if passed is unenforceable and will wind up on the pile of nobody gives a shit like the Safe Act Registration Requirement!

I'm at the range, or training and wearing protective gear... And somebody wants to arrest me, well that's going to go over big! How will the State explain that citizens must accept risk and not wear vests that could protect themselves. Does the State then make wearing eye or ear protection illegal too? Is no difference, none at all... Again, can't see how this would stand scrutiny for a minute!

yeah i hear you. I did take the "catch more flys with honey" approach first. Either way, the more emails and phone calls he gets maybe they will think about what happens next re-election...
