Typically, electricity bills reflect the amount of electricity a specific household uses. But, after Assembly Bill 205 passed last year, California could see electricity charges based off of income level instead.
The state’s three largest electric utility companies, Southern California Edison Company, Pacific Gas and Electric Company and San Diego Gas & Electric Company, all proposed the plan, saying that low-income customers could save approximately $300 a year under this new law.

Alternatively, California households earning more than $180,000 a year would end up paying an average of $500 more a year on their electricity bills, according to the proposal.

There are these things called equal protection under the law (14th amendment) and price discrimination. I have always thought that forced income based discrimination (the seller forces you to pay more than someone else) for any reason was unfair and unAmerican. If we both get the same blood test or rent the identical apartments or buy the same tire or use 100KW of electricity from a business, we should pay the same price, period (especially from monopolies or oligopolies). Volume discounts make sense in regard to covering overhead if again, they apply to all equally. Individuals should be able to sell their possessions for what ever they want (your house, your possessions, etc.).

Naw... No leeches here in the great state of NY, the Empire State. Illegals here in NY will be going to work for Tyson Foods. And I've read they will be getting some good bennies. Makes me NY Proud... NY Strong, as the ad goes.

I won't be buying anything with the Tyson Food label on it. I wonder if Tyson will suffer the same consequences as Bud Lite... hope so.

The whole purpose or money is to allocate resources.

The purpose of different incomes is to allocate more resources to people who have earned them than to people who haven't.

If incomes were identical (or if all prices were just come adjusted, which amounts to the same thing with extra steps), then there would be no incentive whatsoever to work, let alone work hard.


Make every job pay the same, and I'll quit my job and run a lemonade stand at the end of my driveway one hour a week.

Why wouldn't everyone else do the same ? If it pays the same as busting your ass 60 hours a week, why bother.

What's the purpose of different incomes?

They want to make it so you’re more dependent on the government for everything. They want it so if you make say $50k and $100k it will all wash out in the end and you’ll have the same disposable income because the government services and aid you get. It’s working well in some areas but people aren’t happy. I can tell you people who make way less than me take more vacations than I do and have nicer/newer cars than I do as well.
