Hello fellow New Yorkers,
I just finished both customizing and making my wasr10 ny compliant. For compliance I used a new product called Maglatch. Maglatch installs into your ak47 magwell and fixes a specialized magazine to your rifle. In order to remove this specialized magazine you have to remove the dust cover, spring and bolt assembly. Next you use a paper clip or small Allen wrench to kind of press an internal button on the device which releases the magazine. The best part about this product is it allowes the rifle to operate as intended with normal magazines. Basically when you leave cuomo-land you can pop a standard ak mag into your rifle and you are good to go! There are a few videos on the internet showing how the maglatch works.

No. What I mean by normal operation is the mag release in front of the trigger guard is used to release the magazine. Then you can insert a new magazine. The way aks are meant to be operated.

It's a decent idea that allows you to keep your gun but terrible option if you want to actually use it.

True. Great option if you frequently shoot in areas not regulated by cuomo. Always safe act compliant when you put it in your safe.
