The founders were skeptical of pure democracy and designed systems like the electoral college, checks & balances, a free press, and the Second Admendment. Legislation deliberately moves slow and gets compromised so nothing changes too fast. And the Supreme Court operates under the principal of not changing existing precedents and cultural norms.

Or at least that was the intent. It all started to fall apart once non-paying citizens got voting rights (1820s). They never thought no-account freeloaders would have the same vote as tax paying job-creating volunteering contributing good citizens. Thanks to our abundant resources and creative capitalism it took almost 200 years for the lazy stupid masses to vote our country into bankruptcy.

Hillary would have been the last straw, gutting the constitution and forcing single party rule.

The popular vote should never be accounted for other than for the primaries.. Our fore fathers figured out that using the electoral college vote as a means to elect a president gave all states a fair playing field and forced the candidates to pursue each state in the same way. An ingenious way to keep the candidates from ever knowing which state will or could be the deciding factor.

Protesting is fine, once the fires start and the windows break, its time for the National Guard. Not the police, these monsters do not respect the police and many on both sides would get injured. Big green trucks full of armed military in full gear, now that intimidates the snowflakes.

I think a lot of folks who live in deep blue states and cities who don't bother voting because they are pissing in the wind would reconsider. Rural turnout in NY, PA, CT, MA, ME, MI, IL, CA, OR, WA would probably go up. But alas we are a republic made up of 50 states not a country made up of 50 counties.
