I agree reacquiring your target between each shot is actually a good exercise! To develop your NPOA (natural point of aim) Most Appleseeds shooters use semi-auto 22's (10/22's mostly) so they don't have to reacquire their target with each shot when shooting the AQT which is 40rds in 4 minutes. Some after earn their Riflman patch return with bolt-action 22's to challenge themselves even more.
Sling looks great!!One more pic. I checked the mail late this afternoon, skinner sight and sling had arrived. Here's a pic of the interim hunting configuration. I figure I'll put on the skinner sight later in the fall when I won't be using it for squirrels as much.

It'll look better when it can ditch the oversized scope. But, thanks for the link to the sling. You can use the harness with any sling.

Returned the Henry to the original profile by attaching the Skinner sight. Zeroing the sight was kind of a pain.
My eyes are shit so the groups were bigger at 25 yards. But, I figure I'll be hunting closer than that for the next month or so.

I do cherish them.
Ive got 2 deer with the 30-30 and 2 with the 45-70.
He would like that, he died before NY was allowed to use rifles. He killed alot with his single shot 12 gauge though, which I also have.

Back to the range, this time with a Leupold 2-7x28 VX1 Rimfire scope. This is basically the smallest scope with decent optics I could afford.
I'll probably use the skinner sight for spring and summer plinking. But, I need the scope for squirrels.

I've worn bifocals since I was 26. Sadly, the glasses do about the best they can. My eyes don't cooperate very well at extremes.
If you could mount the rear sight like on the small game model, I bet you could see better?

I have considered that. But, the receiver cover needs to be drilled and tapped. I'm sort of impatient to be shooting it.
It is still an option.

Well, I already ordered the barrel sight and front sight. I might as well get the Rimfire groove sight as well. I guess I'm doomed to keep dumping cash into this rifle.

If you decide to get one, don't get one not made bt DO-ALL............buddy bought a knock off no name and it was torn apart by .22 My do-all has about 250 hits on it and still looks good, I spray painted 1 side orange and the other side glowing green, so the wife can choose her background.
The same thing happen to me with Tech-Sights after I set up a 10/22 with their original sight they came out with the rail mounted rear sight!

I like how the tech sights improved my 10/22's accuracy, some difference. I may get the rail mount so I can throw a rds on my carbine. My only bitch is my rear sight is over to the left quite a bit, but man, this thing is right on the money, either w/ Aguila sv or CCI minimags.
