New Home Defense/EDC gun

Well I waited long enough. I've been wanting the P320 since it came out and the RX version since its arrival to the market though I hadn't been able to find one. Had a birthday this past weekend and decided to take a drive to one of my LGS's. They had a P320C RX in the case and I just couldn't say no for the price they had it for! Call it an impulse buy if you will but I had the perfect excuse on that given day. (I am aware of the P320 voluntary upgrade and the issues associated with it, didn't dissuade me an ounce from buying this gun so please no hate, don't plan on dropping this piece on its back end several times to try and get a discharge and will send it in for upgrade when available)

I should have posted my question here. How are you liking shooting with a red dot? I'm still getting use to it myself. Once I get use to it I will be using it as my home defense gun.

Love the gun but it's a little tougher for me off the draw, so far that's my greatest difficulty. I think it wins in the accuracy department though, shot a few 2.5-3 inch groups rested at 20 yards to sight it in and then moved up to 10 for some quicker shooting and draws.

When I first got mine I went prone from a bag to sight it in. I was amazed the dot never moved from the bull's-eye. I was like this is amazing I'm going to shoot this so well. After sighting it in I stood up to shoot and the dot was jumping all over the place. I was like well that's why I suck.

The dot does show your every move, I had my father come and shoot it too because his eyes aren't what they used to be and he loved that he could see the dot but he would have to work on shooting it as well, he was a little shakey

I never shot a sig. It's probably a good thing or I would be spending some more money. If they come out with a legion with a red dot then I probably won't be able to resist.

I really hope training/shooting with the red dot will help my shooting. I like the constant feed back it gives you. When I was hooting irons I thought I was relatively steady. When I picked up the red dot it showed without a doubt that assumption was wrong. I need to get some training with some professionals, my guess is it's stance or grip.

Very nice! I've had my eye on a SIG P320 Rx since they were announced since I work in pharmacy (and Rx = prescription). I was shocked at the 'drop-test' issues, but I know SIG will make it right. At this point I'll probably wait since supplies will be tight for a while, and with the Army adopting it every fanboi will want one.

I have a long thread about it but here's a picture of it. It's a Glock 22 with a vortex viper. It also has an overwatch trigger in it.

That gun looks awesome, gotta love a custom glock. I dig the cerakote work too! I've heard great things about the vortex viper too, gonna have to check out the thread on it

Would you recommend the Compact over the Fullsize? I know you can replace the frame and all but didn't know if it was better to get one over the other.. I guess I'd want to hold one to see first. I haven't seen any 320s in person yet.

@682SuperSport And @MilesTeg (I believe I've shown you this before) but red dots are not even the future of handguns and daily carry any more they are the now (compensators are the future imho) but here is something that might help with finding the dot.
My spare time used to be working on just drawing from concealment, now it's a mix between that and finding the red dot

That works if you can cowitness or come close with the red dot. It's quite the transition for me with my Victory as the red dot is on a rail considerably higher than the sights. It takes a bit to get used to finding it, and just pushing out like that won't work in this case.

But once I get it, man, I can easily plink my steel target 20/20 (10, reload, 10) as fast as I can pull the trigger. That is some great fun!

Oh deff agree about the cowitness, I can't stand when people use dovetail mounts or milled slide but no back up irons on a HD or carry gun. Works great for a range toy but not so much for a serious use gun, especially when first starting to shoot with a red dot. But then again I also get frustrated seeing subpar red dots on defensive handguns, but capitalism and that feeling passes when I think wait not my monies

I sent in the rebate info as soon as the gun was paid for. They should be able to send 10 rounders because it works on a promo code and you add the stuff to your cart.

As far as size, I went with the compact simply because I wanted something that could flex into a home defense role or be an edc for me. The full size gun is definitely longer but only slightly taller, definitely would make a great range gun or competition gun if that's what you wanted to use it for but carrying would be tough.

To touch on this, the great thing about the 'full package' (wink wink) is SIG's lifetime warranty. Though I think it's only 5 years for the optic..

We have our custom 320 being built now. Can't wait.
Won't be a safe queen like my 250 45.
