My grandfather had two of them.30 caliber, if I remember right. Use to carry one deer hunting in the ADK. Sadly he sold them off.

The gun my dad had was a pump action .308. It was a Remington but I forget what the model number was.

If I remember correctly they made the model 14 in 4 different calibers.
.25 , .32, .30 & .35 The one that I posted is in my favorite caliber .35
Several years later Remington came out with the pump action model 141 Gamemaster . That was made in several calibers as well.

Thanks for posting, now I need to put that gun on my buy list. I still have a box of 30 Remington ammo that I didn't return to my grandfather. I still had his minty 7400 when he passed but the pump was always my favorite.

Found a model 141 in the 35 Remington.
Crazy that Rifle sells for more used today than new when they were made....35 Rem ammo isn't cheap or plentiful anymore either!

I need to look but I should have several boxes. I hunted with a Marlin lever in 35 for years before switching to bolt action.

Various reasons, but that wasn't the only (or even the most common) issue with gun. The most common thing (pretty much all of them) was/is the buffer they had installed by default. They regularly cracked and got little plastic peices all up in the action that had to cleared out. It's an easy enough fix and replacements (superior ones) are even still easy to find.. but still a big issue and turned off a lot of people.
Beyond that, they didn't sell especially well (or THAT badly really), and that probably had a lot to do with the time in which they were around. First you have the safety. The garand style safety, having to put your finger inside the trigger gaurd to activate it, was outdated (somewhat unsafe) and unpoular. Then, the (modern) pistol caliber carbine wasn't in it's heyday of popularity yet, as that didnt really hit until the early 2000s, and in the last 3 years-ish of the Marlin's profduction it had the competition of the Ruger PC-4, which had the black polymer stock and was bound to be considered the 'cooler' gun, especially in that time period where everyone was sort of transitioning from more classic looks/designs all around. THEN.. the 1911 was considerably less popular at the time, AND the 59/5900 series was also finishing up production right around the same time the Marlin was.

I picked up one of these Chiappa M1 Carbines in 9mm, they use a Beretta M92 magazine...still haven't shot it, but will.

Did you go with the Browning? Overall, I'm enjoying my BAR Mk3 DBM. When swapping magazines, they can be a bit finnicky to drop. Really my only complaint.
